Time to get the grill FIRED UP!

Yup, it's that time of year... We've already grilled out a few times... and then it happened. I never check my tank to see how full it is, I don't know why... But it never fails. I can cook a thousand steaks on the grill - no problem... But the day I decide to do chicken or fish, that's the day the tank is empty! And because I wish that on NO ONE, here's a couple of options out there to keep your grill goin' this spring, and into summer!

Save $3 on Blue Rhino Grill Gas!
This is what we usually do... It's quick, it's easy... And it's about $20'ish bucks. We have a Blue Rhino exchange station in front of our Meijer gas station...
Mail In Rebate Offer.
Print out this $3 Mail-In Rebate Coupon and follow these instructions:
  • Exchange your empty grill tank for a Blue Rhino tank or buy a Blue Rhino tank without an exchange before December 31, 2009.
  • Save original cash register receipt.
  • Print coupon (from link above) and complete coupon in its entirety with your name, address, city, state, zip, and store where you purchased your Blue Rhino tank
  • Return completed coupon and original receipt in a stamped envelope before January 31, 2010, to the following address: Blue Rhino Tank Exchange Rebate, PO Box 6075, Douglas, AZ 85655-6075.
  • Allow 6 to 8 weeks for processing. Limit 1 per household per calendar year.
Also, you can get a $20 Rebate on a NEW Blue Rhino Tank purchased at Lowes!!!
Here's the form. I called my Lowe's - and they quoted me a price of $49 for a new Blue Rhino Tank. (no exchange)
YOU MUST PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TO RECEIVE YOUR REBATE:
  • Before you move, drop your current propane tank beside a Blue Rhino tank exchange display at a participating Blue Rhino retailer before December 31, 2010.
  • After you move, purchase a Blue Rhino propane tank from Lowe’s and complete this form in its entirety. Exchange transaction not eligible for thisdiscount. Must buy a Blue Rhino tank with no exchange (Item #7383).
  • Return this completed form with your original Lowe’s sales receipt in a stamped envelope by January 31, 2011, to Blue Rhino Marketing, 470 West Hanes Mill Rd., STE 200, Winston-Salem, NC 27105

Did you know that many local UHaul locations refill propane tanks?
Yup, it's true... A quick call to the nearest location that does refills - and I'm told they charge $3 per gallon. He also explained that a typical "gas grill" tank would run probably $15 dollars or so... Go here to the UHaul finder - make sure you check the "propane" box - to find a location near you! Why I'm partial to this method is because even when you're tank is "empty" - it's not actually empty... So you won't be giving that propane away in a trade. Also - I've read that the tanks you exchange for aren't totally full - 80% full actually instead. But I also like knowing that when my tank starts to get ugly - I can just pay a few extra bucks and trade for a new Blue Rhino tank!!

We run our dryer off of these tanks, as well as a grill, so we probably fill them more often than most. These rebates will definitely be useful- thanks!
